Abdulla Gurbani

Abdulla Gurbani was born in the village of Mahmudkand, Sharur region. He studied at the Abraqunus village boarding school of Julfa region, and at the Theater Studies faculty of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1978–1983). He began his career at the republican training and advanced training courses for cultural workers under the Ministry of Culture, where he worked as an artistic director (1973–1975). He worked as a methodologist for mass performances at the Ashig Alasgar House of People's Creativity in Baku (1977–1978), director of the Museum of History and Local Lore in Sharur region (1983–1989), and head of the cultural studies department (1989–1993). In 1993, he voluntarily left for the front from the position of head of the Sharur region Culture Department. During the first combat operations for Murovdag, he rose from an ordinary soldier to the rank of colonel. He was discharged from military service in 2017 as Deputy Head of the Department of Moral and Psychological Preparation and Public Relations of the Ministry of Defense. He is currently a member of the Presidium of the Organization of Veterans of War, Labor and Armed Forces.
He began his artistic creativity at a young age. His first writing experiences were published in regional newspapers. Later, he regularly appeared in the press with poems, stories and journalistic articles. He is the author of more than 100 books, hundreds of articles, and the lyrics of more than 200 military marches and patriotic songs on the topic of military patriotism. Television plays have been prepared based on his poems, a requiem-oratorio, and a symphonic poem have been written. The plays "Dashaltı", "Turkish Banner", "Dash andi", "Shahnaz Mugham", "Youth Never Returns" have been staged. He is the scriptwriter and production director of theatrical mass ceremonies. He is the author of the book-album "Azerbaijan-Turkey: Celebration of Brotherhood". He is the host of military parades held in Azerbaijan.
