Abdul Mahmudov

Abdul Mahmudov (Sheikh Abdul Mahmudbeyov / Abdulahad Mahmudov) was born in the Atbulag village of the Gazimammed region (now Hajigabul).
He studied at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts, specializing in Acting (1962-1966, Adil Isgandarov's course), and in the directing department of the Higher Directing and Screenwriting Courses in Moscow (1971-1973, Leonid Trauberg's and Georgy Danelia's workshop).
Since 1966, he has worked as an actor at the "Azerbaijanfilm" film studio. He was the artistic director of the film-actor theater under the film studio. He is the chairman of the Inspection Commission of the Azerbaijan Professional Film Directors Guild. He was awarded the State Prize for the film "Bloody Soil" (1986). He was awarded the "National Cinema Award" of the Union of Cinematographers of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2019).
