State Prize of the Azerbaijan SSR
It is a high award given to figures of literature, art and architecture, science and technology in the Azerbaijan SSR since 1970, and to pioneers of production for labor achievements since 1976.
By the decision of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan and the Council of Ministers, the persons deemed worthy of the award were awarded a badge and a cash prize.
The awards were given every two years on the eve of the day of the establishment of Soviet power in Azerbaijan (April 28), and the list of laureates was published in the press.
In 1990, the practice of awarding state awards changed, and after the restoration of May 28 - Republic Day, this award was not awarded to anyone that year.
After the state of Azerbaijan was renamed the Republic of Azerbaijan on February 5, 1991, the state awards for 1990 were last awarded in May 1991 under the name "State Award of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
The total number of awards awarded in 1970–1991 was 527. State awards were given to 142 people in literature, art and architecture, 222 in science and technology, 157 for industrial achievements, and a total of 521 people. 6 people (Suleyman Rustam, Hasanaga Turabov, Khayyam Mirzazadeh, Kamil Najafzadeh, Gurban Abbasov and Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh) were awarded this award twice.
