Vagif Asadov (Vagif Asad Firudinoghlu) was born in Nakhchivan.

He studied Drama and Film Actor at the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1969).

He worked as an actor, production director, and chief director at the Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theater (1969-1989). He founded the “Javid” Poetry Theater operating in Nakhchivan (1982-1989). As a director, the play “Elektra” he prepared at the Nakhchivan Theater was a successful play and was shown on Moscow television at the time. He directed the plays “Burlakhatun” (Nabi Khazri) on the stage of the Academic National Drama Theater and “Love Still Lives” (Hidayat) on the stage of the Yerevan State Drama Theater. He was a director and scriptwriter of large-scale state events. Since 1989, he has worked as a production director at the Azerbaijan State Theater for Young Spectators.

Honored Artist (1978), People's Artist (2006) Vagif Asadov died in 2022.

Director, actor Vagif Asadov is the husband of actress Zemfira Aliyeva.
