Timur Weinstein was born in Baku.

He studied psychiatry at the Azerbaijan Medical University (1996). In 1997, he was admitted to the Russian Institute of Television Specialists, specializing in television directing.

Since 1991, he has been the artistic director of the “Parni iz Baku” (Boys from Baku) KVN team. This team was the champion of 1992, the owner of the Summer Cup in 1995, and in 2000 was awarded the title of champion of the century. In Russia, he worked as a correspondent, editor, director at the “VID” television company, later the host of the programs “Tema”, “Dobriy Vecher s Yuliyem Gusmanom”, the author of “Chas pik”, “Ishu tebya” and various programs. In 1998, he was named the best editor of the “VID” television company. In 2000, he was the director of the program “Planeta KVN” and the series “KVN. 40 let shutya”. Since 2000, he has been the producer and director of the presentation ceremony of the Russian National Cinematography Award “Nika”, and since 2003, he has also been the producer and director of the presentation ceremony of the Russian National Sports Award “Slava”. He is one of the founders and general producer of the “Lean M” Production Center (2000-2009), founder and general producer of the “Weit-media” Production Company (2009-2015). He was a member of the board of directors of “STS-Media” (2013-2016). Since 2015, he has been the general producer and deputy general director of the Russian television company NTV. He has produced more than 20 films and series.

Producer Timur Weinstein is the son of composer Leonid Weinstein.
