Sona Hajiyeva

Sona Hajiyeva was born in Nukha (Sheki). In 1919, she moved to Baku with her family.

She began her stage career in 1921 at the Baku Free Criticism and Propaganda Theater. At the age of 13, she made her debut with the role of Chimnaz in the play “Evening Patience Will Be Good” (Sultan Majid Ganizadeh). Until 1927, she also played roles in operas and musical comedies. She worked at the Azerbaijan State Drama Theater for a long time (1923-1970).

Honored Artist (1933), People's Artist (1949) Sona Hajiyeva died in 1979.

Actress Sona Hajiyeva is the daughter of actress Aziza Mammadova.
