Melik Dadashov was born in Baku.

He studied at the Asef Zeynalli Music School. In order to continue his education, he decided to enter the Moscow Conservatory. However, the outbreak of war interrupted this dream.

He received a concussion in the war. In 1943, having completed his treatment, he served as a musician in military units. After being discharged from the army, he began his activities at the Young Spectators Theater. After some time, he was sent to the newly opened Zagatala State Theater (1944-1945), and from there to the Shamkir District Theater (1945-1946). Later, he studied at the Azerbaijan Theater Institute (1947-1951, Adil Isgandarov's course). At the same time, he entered the song and dance ensemble of the Philharmonic as a dancer (1947-1949). Since 1950, he has worked at the Drama Theater. His first role on stage was Siraj in the play "Melikmammad". For some time he worked at the Russian Drama Theater (1989-1991). He also tried himself in the field of theater directing and staged the play “The Betrothed Girl”.

He starred in the film “The Planes Did Not Land” (1963, directed by Zahid Sabitov / Uzbekistan) by foreign film producers as Yahya, in the film “Dmitry Kantemir” (1973, directed by Vladimir Iovicha, Vitaly Kalashnikov / Moldova) as Vizier Baltachy Mehmed Pasha, and in the film “The Interviewed Man” (1986, directed by Yuri Marukhin / Belarus) as Khamis.

Since the 1980s, he has also taught acting at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

Honored Artist (1960), People's Artist (1974), State Prize Laureate (1986) Melik Dadashov died in 1996.
