Jahangir Jahangirov was born in the Balakhani settlement of Baku.
He studied at the Asef Zeynalli Baku Music School and the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1951, B. Zeydman's composition class).
Since 1949, he has led the choir created under the Azerbaijan Radio. He worked as the artistic director of the Song and Dance Ensemble under the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic. His creativity is distinguished by its versatility. He has choral and instrumental music, operas, and songs. The cantata "Fuzuli" brought him fame.
Honored Artist (1958), People's Artist (1963), USSR State Prize laureate (1950) Jahangir Jahangirov died in 1992 and was buried in the Alley of Honor.
