Ishag Ibrahimov was born in Baku.

The outbreak of World War II did not allow him to continue his education. In September 1941, he went to the front line and was wounded. After treatment, he again participated in battles on the South-Western Front as a reconnaissance chief and chief of staff in an artillery division (1941-1942). He was seriously wounded and was treated for a long time in a military hospital (1942-1944). After being discharged from the army, he worked as a translator and editor at "Ushaggenjneshr" (1944-1945). He continued his education at the Faculty of Theater Studies of the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute, and at the same time was engaged in literary translation (1945-1948). He worked as a literary worker and executive secretary in the editorial office of the magazine "Revolution and Culture" (1948-1952), editor-in-chief of the feature programs department at the Azerbaijan Radio Broadcasting Department (1952-1959), editor-in-chief of the magazine "Azerbaijan" (1959-1962), head of the script department at "Azerbaijanfilm", member of the script-editorial board (1962-1966), translator in the Radio feature programs department at the Azerbaijan State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company, member of the editorial board of the "Ekran" Creative Union, and editor-in-chief (1962-1975). He was the chairman of the bureau of the translators' section in the Azerbaijan Writers' Union. He was elected secretary of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union (1975-1984). He was a member of the board of the USSR Writers' Union, a member of the board of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, and a deputy of the Baku City Council.

Translator, critic, screenwriter, Honored Artist (1979) Ishag Ibrahimov died in 1987.
