Fidan Gasimova

Fidan Gasimova was born in Baku.
She studied at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory in two faculties - string instruments and vocals (violin - S. Ganiyev's class, vocals - I. Lvovich's class). She completed an internship at the Moscow Conservatory's postgraduate course (1974).
She was a winner of prestigious vocal competitions held abroad. During her student years, she was awarded a silver medal at the international competition in Geneva (Switzerland, 1973) and took second place in the Netherlands (1975, 's-Hertogenbosch). Her greatest victory was being awarded the first prize at the Vietti International Vocal Competition in Italy in 1977. Since 1974, she has been a soloist of the Azerbaijan Opera and Ballet Theater.
Since 1974, she has been teaching at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory (professor since 1990). Since 1992, she has been a professor at the Conservatory of Istanbul University.
People's Artist (1982), People's Artist of the USSR (1988), Laureate of the State Prize (1984), Laureate of the Orders of "Glory" (1997), "Honor" (2010) and "Independence" (2017).
At the initiative of the sisters Fidan and Khuraman Gasimova, a republican competition of young opera singers has been held since 1997.
Opera singer, vocalist Fidan Gasimova is the sister of opera singer, vocalist, actress Khuraman Gasimova.
