Arif Gaziyev was born in Irevan and lived in Ganja.
He studied at the Azerbaijan State Theater Institute.
Since 1956, he worked as an announcer on Azerbaijan Television, then in the acting troupe of the Miniature Theater created under the television, and for a while in the music department. He directed many films on the theme of music that were shot on television. In 1988, he founded the Mugham Theater and became its artistic director and chief director. He was awarded the Order of "Glory" (2008).
Honored Artist Arif Gaziyev died in 2022 and was buried in the Nardaran cemetery.
Director Arif Gaziyev is the husband of actress, director-pedagogue Nazakat Gaziyeva.
