Alisafdar Huseynov was born in Goychay.

He studied at the Faculty of Journalism of Azerbaijan State University.

He worked in the newspapers "Baku", "Yeni fikir", "Mustaqil qazet", "Ulfet", and on Azerbaijani television. He worked in the field of military journalism in the Azerbaijani Armed Forces (1993-2007). He worked as the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Azerbaijan Army" and "Harbi Nashriyyat".

He is a veteran of the Karabakh war.

He has been publishing literary, journalistic and scientific-theoretical articles in the periodical press since the early 80s of the last century. The books “Hasan Mammadov” (1990), “The Air of War” (1996), “Cinema: From Dream to Reality” (1998), “Cinema and Poetry” (2000), “Variations on a Familiar Theme” (2009), “Beyond the Scene, or the Shape of the Word” (2012), “Explanatory Dictionary of Cinema Terms” (2015), “The Phenomenon of Anar in Our Cinema” (2015), “The Philosophy of Cinema” (2019), “5 Peaks”, “Vagif Mustafayev”, “Let’s Not Get Tired of Our Love” have been published. He is consistently engaged in the study of aesthetic problems of screen art. His articles have been published in “Ulduz”, “Gobustan” magazines, “Kino +” newspaper and other press outlets.

He is the winner of the “Best Research Work and Critical Article in the Field of Cinema” competition of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. 

He is a laureate of the “Golden Pen” award.

He holds a PhD in Art History (2007), and is an Honored Cultural Worker (2016).
