Akif Abbasov

Akif Abbasov was born in the city of Ali Bayramli (now Shirvan).
He studied at the English and Azerbaijani languages faculty of the Azerbaijan Institute of Pedagogical Languages (1968-1973).
He was a correspondent in the editorial office of the city newspaper "Ishig" (1967-1968), an English teacher in the secondary schools of Shikhsalahli and Garaguna villages of the Sabirabad region (1973-1975), a research worker, head of department at the Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Pedagogical Sciences (1975-2001), scientific secretary, vice-rector for scientific affairs at the Baku Higher Pedagogical Girls' Seminary (1992-1998), editor of the scientific-theoretical and methodological journal "Education, Culture, Art" (2000-2006). He is the deputy editor-in-chief of "Scientific Works" of the Institute of Educational Problems of the Republic of Azerbaijan, editor of "Scientific Works" of the Baku Girls' University. He began his literary and pedagogical activity in 1966. His first printed article was published in the newspaper "Işıq" published in the city of Ali Bayramli (1966). His translations from Russian and English were published in almanacs, newspapers and magazines, and were published as books and booklets. He is the author of more than 15 textbooks and teaching aids for general education, secondary specialized and higher schools, as well as a number of subject programs and scientific and methodological works.
He is a writer, translator, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences (1995), professor (2004), Honored Teacher (2012), laureate of the "Teraggi" medal (2006), and the "Golden Pen" award (2007).
