Date of establishment: 1988

In 1988, 3 new organizations were established on the basis of the Chronicle-Documentary, Scientific-Massive and Educational Film Union of the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio - Salname, Yaddash and Rakurs documentary film studios. “Salname” and “Yaddash” have been operating as independent documentary film studios since 1991. After 1993, they were renamed independent documentary film studios with state status. “Rakurs” documentary film studio ceased its activities in 1991.

The first head of the studio was Zaur Maharramov.
