THE FILM "NARGIZ" WAS DEEMED WORTHY OF THE "TURKSOY SPECIAL AWARD" IN KAZAKHSTAN

On August 5–8, 2025, the URKER International Animation Film Festival was held in Aktau, Kazakhstan, as part of the “Aktau – Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” program. The main goal of the festival was to introduce the rich heritage of the Kazakh scientist-mythologist Serikbol Kondybay (1968–2004) and bring together the animation art of the Turkic world countries.
The film “Nargiz” by Masoud Panahi, which participated in the main competition program of the festival, was awarded the “TURKSOY Special Award”. The award was presented by Sultan Rayev, Secretary General of the International Turkic Culture Organization (TURKSOY), to Rashid Aghamaliyev, the producer of the film “Nargiz”, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Animation Association. The award was presented “for outstanding contribution to the cultural heritage and artistic expression of the Turkic world”.
The jury of the festival included Uzbek director Mavzur Mahmudov, member of the Azerbaijan Animation Association, chairman of the Turkish Animation Association (ATA), director of the “Plastilin” (Finland) and “Alove” (Azerbaijan) studios, producer Ogtay Yusibov, director and producer of the Turkish series “Rafadan Tayfa” Ismail Fidan, Kazakh social anthropologist Evfrat B. Imambek and Kyrgyz director Kanybek Omurbekov.
The non-competitive program of the festival also featured the animated film “Hadis” by director Nazrin Aghamaliyeva.
The organizers of the festival were the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimat of Mangistau Region. The URKER festival, held under the slogan “Animation of the New Turkic Times”, is expected to play an important role in the animation environment of the Turkic world in the future.
