A FILM CRITIC'S MEETING HAS BEEN HELD
On January 24, a meeting of film critics and film scholars was held at the initiative of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan. The current state, problems and prospects of Azerbaijani film studies were discussed at the meeting. The meeting was attended by Nadir Badalov, associate professor of the Azerbaijan State Film Institute, film critics Aliya Dadashova, Aygun Aslanli, Nazrin Mahu, Ilgar Guliyev, Ulvi Mehdi, Haji Safarov, film scholars Togrul Abbasov, Shahla Amirli, Sevinj Elsever, editor of the kinoinfo.az website Ramil Alekperov, and secretaries of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan Oleg Safaraliyev and Ali Isa Jabbarov. It was considered appropriate to implement a number of steps to expand the role of film criticism and strengthen the theoretical basis of our cinema. In particular, the organization of film critics and the establishment of an award were noted as steps that could support the development of our cinema.
