AZERBAIJAN SUBMITS FILM "TAGIYEV: OIL" AS A CANDIDATE FOR THE 98TH OSCAR AWARDS
According to the chairman of the Azerbaijani Film Selection Committee for the Academy Awards (Oscars), filmmaker Shamil Aliyev told aki.az, the Azerbaijani film “Taghiyev: Oil” has been nominated for the 98th Academy Awards in the “Best International Feature Film” category.
The film was produced by the “Baku Media Center” with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the Film Agency. The screenplay highlights the life and legacy of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, a prominent oil magnate and philanthropist who played an important role in the economic and cultural life of Azerbaijan. The film is produced by Arzu Aliyeva and directed by Zaur Gasimzade.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) will announce the long list for the “Best International Feature Film” category in October, the short list in December, and the main nominations in January 2026. The 98th Academy Awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles in March 2026.
