A MAGNIFICENT PRESENTATION OF AZERBAIJAN CINEMA AT THE VENICE FESTIVAL

The presentation of the film “Sermon to the Void” by Azerbaijani director Hilal Baydarov was held in the “Out of Competition Fiction” section of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival. The screenplay, which was screened on September 5 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ARKA) operating under the Ministry of Culture, was met with interest by experts and viewers. A press conference was held after the screening of the film. The ideological and aesthetic merits of “Sermon to the Void”, the last film in Hilal Baydarov’s “Sermon” trilogy, were highly appreciated. It was noted that the film is of great importance in terms of presenting Azerbaijani literature, way of thinking, and folklore to the world. In the film, which is based on the work of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli, the search for the water of life is interpreted as the search for the soul within a person.
The film's script is written by Hilal Baydarov and Aysu Akcan, and its producer is Orkhan Fikretoglu. The film, a joint work of Azerbaijani, Mexican and Turkish cinematographers, stars Huseyn Nasirov, Maryam Naghiyeva, Rena Askerova, Elshan Abbasov, and Orkhan Isganderli.
It should be noted that the 82nd Venice International Film Festival began on August 27 and ends today.
