A FEATURE FILM IS BEING SHOOTED ABOUT AZERBAIJAN'S FIRST FEMALE SHIP CAPTAIN

At the initiative and order of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company CJSC (ASCO), the shooting of a feature film dedicated to the life and activities of the first female ship captain of Azerbaijan, a participant in World War II, Shovket Salimova, has begun. The main goal of the screenplay titled “Shovket” is to present the life path and heroism of the female captain who left her mark on our maritime history to the audience in an artistic language, as well as to highlight the contributions made by Azerbaijan and our national shipping to the front during World War II, the role of women in the field of shipping, and the image of a leading woman in general.
More than 70 local and foreign specialists, as well as more than 100 actors, are involved in the production of the film. The image of 22-year-old Shovket Salimova is played by young actress Nazrin Abdullayeva. In addition, the film stars People's Artist Gurban Ismayilov, well-known actors Hikmet Rahimov, Elsever Rahimov, Nigar Murselova and others.
The author of the idea for the screenplay is Mehman Mehdiyev, Head of the Public Relations Department of ASCO, the scriptwriters are Asif Rustamov and the director of the “Surakhani” ship-museum Tural Ibrahimov. The film is directed by Asif Rustamov, the director of photography is Rauf Gurbanaliyev, the chief producer is Tural Ibrahimov, and the executive producer is Sabina Hasanova.
The filming is being carried out on ships belonging to the ASCO fleet and other real locations.
