Zaur Maharramov (Zaur Mukerrem) was born in Baku. He studied at the Cinematography Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1957-1963). In 1956, he began working as an assistant cameraman at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. Since the 1980s, he has continued his work as a director, dedicating his creativity to documentary cinema. In 1988, he organized the “Yaddash” documentary film studio. Honored Artist, State Prize laureate (1982), Professor Zaur Maharramov currently teaches at the Cinema and Television Department of Anadolu University, Turkey. The books “Thoughts on Cinematography” and “Thoughts on Documentary Esthetics” have been published in Turkey.
