Yuri Varnovsky (Yuri Varnauskas) was born in Baku.
He studied at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute (1966-1969), and at the Cinematography Department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1975-1980).
Since 1972, he has worked at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio.
He was awarded the “Humay” national prize. He is an Honored Artist (2012).
