Yafat Kheyirov was born in the village of Susay, Guba region.

He studied at the Baku Communication Electrotechnical School (1980-1984), the Ostankino Institute of Advanced Training in Moscow (1987).

In 1984 he was hired as a video engineer at the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee. He is an editor of about 240 documentary television films. 

He was awarded the "Progress" medal (2011).
