Valeri Karimov was born in Baku.

He studied at the cinematography faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1969-1974).

He worked as a worker in the “Bakutuneltikinti” department. Since he was engaged in photography, he changed his job a little later and came to the film studio. Here he worked as a lighting engineer and assistant cameraman. After graduating, he shot numerous films as a cameraman. As a director at the “Debut” studio, he directed the short feature film “Hamyerli”.

Honored Artist Valeri Karimov died in 1998.
