Vagif Karimov was born in Baku. He studied at the Faculty of Head of the Artistic Amateur Collective of the Cultural and Educational Technical School (1971).

In 1974, he began his career as an actor at the Mingachevir State Drama Theater by appointment. In 2004, he was invited to the Sumgayit State Musical Drama Theater. Since 2006, he has been an actor at the Irevan State Azerbaijan Drama Theater.

He is an Honored Artist (2007).
