Tamilla Aghamirova was born in Baku. Her father and mother were exiled as “enemies of the people”. Her siblings grew up under the care of her aunt Sugra khanum.
She studied at the Baku Theater School (1951).
Having gone to Moscow, she impressed the judges in her first exam and entered the 3rd year of the USSR Institute of Theater Arts directly. After completing her education 2 years later, she entered the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio.
Since 1952, she has been an actress of the “Romen” Moscow Musical and Drama Theater. She has played many roles on the stage of the only gypsy theater in the world. She was actively engaged in public activities until the last days of her life. She was a professor at the Academy of Security, Defense and Law and Order, vice-president of the “Maski” Foundation, and an honorary master of the International Academy Theater.
She played the role of Altisidora in the Russian-made film "Don Quixote" (1957, directed by Grigor Kozintsov), and in the film "Cuban Novel" (1962, directed by Sergey Kolosov).
Honored Artist of Azerbaijan (1960), People's Artist of Russia (1988) Tamilla Aghamirova died in Moscow in 2021 and was buried there.
