Samandar Rzayev was born in Agsu. He studied at the Faculty of Acting of the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts (1964-1968). He worked for a while at the Sumgayit Theater, and since 1969 at the National Drama Theater. The image of “King Lear” that he voiced in dubbing at the age of 26 is considered an example of independent art. He also performed as a literary reader. Radio listeners remember him as the host of the “Bulag” program. Laureate of the State Prize (1980), Honored Artist (1974) Samandar Rzayev died in 1986. He was buried in the Yasamal cemetery.
Actor Samandar Rzayev is the father of actor Rashid Samandar and editor Rubaba Samandar.
