Nizami Musayev was born in Baku.

He has been working in cinema since 1981. Being an athlete, he himself directed and performed stunts for several films.

In 1992, he became the head of the Department for Combating Banditry and Terrorism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
