Musa Yagub (Musavat Yagubov) was born in the village of Buynuz in the Ismayilli region.
After studying at the Goychay Pedagogical School, he worked as a teacher at the Tirjan village secondary school (1957-1958), a teacher and principal at the Buynuz village primary school (1958-1967). He studied part-time at the Philology Faculty of the Azerbaijan State University (1967-1973). During those years, he was the principal of the Buynuz village 8-year school. After moving to Baku, he worked as deputy director of the fiction promotion bureau at the Azerbaijan Writers' Union and head of the poetry department at the "Azerbaijan" magazine (1974-1978). He was the editor of the "Zahmetkesh" newspaper published in the Ismayilli region (1978).
He began his literary career in 1957 with the poem "Two Hearts, Two Worlds" published in the "Azerbaijan" newspaper.
He was a member of the Milli Majlis (1995-2000).
People's Poet (2019) Musa Yagub died in Ismayilli in 2021 and was buried in the village of Buynuz.
