Mirvarid Dilbazi was born in the village of Musakoy (now Khanglikar) of Gazakh region. 

She studied at the Language, Literature and Social Sciences Faculty of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute (1929).

For a while she taught in Baku and at the Guba Party School. She was the head of the department at the Manuscripts Fund of the Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences (1934-1938), a translator at "Azernashr" (1938-1940). She began to actively engage in creativity since 1940. Her first poem "Women's Freedom" was published in the collection "October Flames" in 1927. Her first book "Our Voice" was published in 1934. She is the author of many books. She has translated works of fiction.

Honored Cultural Worker (1976), the first female People's Poet of Azerbaijan (1979), and recipient of the Order of "Istiglal" (1997), Mirvarid Dilbazi died in 2001 and was buried in the Yasamal cemetery.
