Maria Yatskova-Ibrahimova was born in Moscow. At the age of 5, she moved to New York City with her family.

She studied at the University of Brussels.

After marrying an Azerbaijani, she moved to Azerbaijan. Her documentary film “Miss Gulag” (2007), which was shot in Russia and dedicated to the fate of imprisoned Russian women, won awards at international festivals. She was awarded the Fulbright Award of the US State Department and, with its support, implemented a project dedicated to the activities of ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency for Landmine Clearance). She has produced 10 tourism videos from the “Road to Baku” series for the European Games. She is also the author of numerous videos on advertising and tourism films. She implemented the “Women in motion” project for female directors. She is a member of the European Film Academy (2023).

She is the head of Cinex Production.

She currently lives in the USA.
