Ilhama Ahmadova was born in the Krasnoselno district of Armenia.

She studied at the Drama Directing Department of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (1993-1997).

She worked as an assistant director at the Azerbaijan State Theater for Young Spectators (1997-2008). Since 2008, she has been the chief director of the Baku Children and Youth Theater.
