Gunduz Abbasov was born in Baku.

He studied at the Baku Art School (1952) and the Journalism Department of Azerbaijan State University (1961).

Since his student years, he has been engaged in literary creativity, writing stories and translating. Three books entitled “Papa’s Daughter”, “Living Bridge” and “Wings” have been published, and hundreds of stories, feuilletons, articles and essays have been published in periodicals. For a while, he worked as the head of the youth department of the Azerbaijani radio, as well as the head of the department at “Ushakganjneshr”, “Azerneshr”, and the “Adebiyyat ve kullanıt” newspaper.

He starred in the role of an old sailor in the series “In Search of Captain Grant” (1985, directed by Stanislav Govorukhin / Russia, Bulgaria) by foreign film producers.

Gunduz Abbasov died in 1995.
