Elgun Hamidov was born in the village of Yerguj, Khachmaz region.

He studied at the Faculty of Directing of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art, majoring in Pop Director (2009-2013, Vidadi Hasanov's course).

He gained his first artistic experience at the "Training of Young Specialists" course of the Azerbaijan State Yug Theater (2010-2011).

He worked at the "SIMSAR" Plastic Drama Theater (2011-2014), and also participated in Gurban Masimov's "Clown Genre" master classes (2012-2013). He worked as an actor under a contract at the "Az-ART" studio established under the Azerbaijan State Academic National Drama Theater and in several performances of the theater (2013-2015). He has been an actor at Yugh since 2013, M-Teatr since 2016, Human and ADO independent theaters since 2017, and Azerbaijan State Puppet Theater since 2018.

He was awarded first place in the “QHT-GYF” literary recitation competition (2012), and second place in the literary recitation competition on Free Azerbaijan Television (2014).

He has directed several plays as a director, as well as the “Black Box” plays, in which he is the author and participated as an actor.
