Azer Zeynalov

Azer Zeynalov was born in Nakhchivan. In 1969, he moved to Baku with his family.
He studied in the piano class of music school No. 12, and in the Drama Directing Department of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art (1982-1989).
He took his first steps as a singer in 1990 on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Song Theater. In parallel, he worked in Rafig Babayev's "Jangi" ensemble. He was selected as a laureate of the "Odlar yurdu Baku - 90" song contest. In 1992, he was admitted to the vocal department of the Baku Academy of Music, and in 1994, to the vocal department of the Italian State Conservatory named after Agostino Steffani (Castelfranco Veneto). In 1996, he graduated with a degree in opera singing and returned to Azerbaijan, completing his unfinished studies at the Baku Academy of Music. Since 1996, he has been a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Since 2001, he has been working as the head of the Vocal Department at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art, and since 2015, as the head of the Musical Theater Actor Department. In 2015, in order to carry out the founding work of the newly established “National Vocal” Department at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, he was appointed the head of this department on a public basis, and in the 2015-2016 academic years, he worked as the head of the department at both higher education institutions.
Since 2016, he has continued his pedagogical activity only at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, heading the National Vocal Department. He is a professor (2013). He is the author of the “Vocal Performance” textbook (2012).
He is a People's Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan (1998) and the Republic of Dagestan (2008).
Musician Azer Zeynalov is the son of poet Zeynal Vafa.
Musician Azer Zeynalov is the father of director, singer Ismayil Zeynalov.
