Alexei Dudarev was born in the village of Klyony, Vitebsk region, Belarus.
He studied at the Theater Faculty of the Belarusian Institute of Theater and Arts (1976).
He worked as an assistant to the chief director of the literary department and an actor at the Belarusian Theater for Young Spectators (1976-1979), a member of the script-editorial board of Belarusian Television (1979-1983), editor-in-chief of the magazine "Mastatstva" (1991), secretary (1987-1992) and chairman (1992-2023) of the Belarusian Union of Theater Workers.
Honored Artist of Belarus Alexei Dudarev died in 2023.
