Aghakhan Abdullayev was born in the village of Amirjan in Baku.
He studied at the singing department of the Asaf Zeynalli Secondary Specialized Music School (1969-1973).
He began his career in 1969 at the Abilov Club in Baku, where he worked as an ensemble leader until 1977. Since 1977, he has linked his fate with the Asaf Zeynalli Music School and worked as a mugham teacher at this educational institution, which operates under the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, until the end of his life. He began his career on the stage of the Philharmonic in 1975.
He was awarded the Simurg National Award (2001), the “Humay” National Award (2002), the “Shohrat” Order (2010), and the “Golden Plane” International Award of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation (2015).
Honored Artist (1993), People's Artist (1998) Agakhan Abdullayev died in 2016 and was buried in the village cemetery of Turkan settlement.
