Abbas and Gulgaz (2000)

Our ancestors first transferred our history to stones. Then they preserved it in epics, fairy tales, great ceremonies, myths, mysterious sayings, carpets, and examples of folk art. Epics occupy a leading place among them. Shamans, minstrels, and ashugs have passed these epics down from generation to generation, and time has worn them out. These epics have grown to the stature of the great men sent by God to the nation, and have grown even taller, and have reached our times. One of such epics is “Abbas and Gulgaz”. The film is based on the epic “Abbas and Gulgaz”. The epic is narrated by ashug Mahmud Gasimoglu. The film consists of 7 night-series. The film was shot in the Jalilli village of Tovuz.
