THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY OF THE FEATURE FILM "TAGHIYEV. SONA" WAS HELD AT THE NIZAMI CINEMA CENTER

On October 3, the presentation ceremony of the feature film “Taghiyev: Sona” was held at the Nizami Cinema Center.
The event was attended by the President of the Baku Media Center, Arzu Aliyeva, government officials and cultural figures.
The film “Taghiyev: Sona” is the third part of the film “Taghiyev”, dedicated to the life story of the great philanthropist Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev.
The film was produced by the Baku Media Center with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and the Cinema Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the sponsorship of the companies “Negsol Holding”, “Kapital Bank”, “Bakcell” and “Norm”.
The film touches on important historical events that took place in Baku and the region at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
After many years, the young and educated Sona khanum enters the life of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, who has gone through difficult paths of fate. The love he feels for this young lady confronts him with new obstacles. The film “Taghiyev: Sona” depicts the unforgettable love story of a famous philanthropist and Sona Khanum, who finds her way to his heart, overcoming obstacles. The audience, who will witness the strength of will, the test of loyalty and the rise of love in the film, will also see the changes that have occurred in the lives of the characters in the first two parts.
The film’s chief producer is Arzu Aliyeva, producer Orman Aliyev, director Zaur Gasimli, scriptwriters Ismayil Iman, Asif Isganderli and Zaur Gasimli, cameraman Vladimir Artemyev, artist Sabuhi Atababayev, costume designer Vusal Rahim and composer Etibar Asadli.
A large professional cast, including People’s Artists Parviz Mammadrzayev, Gurban Ismayilov, Honored Artists Rasim Jafar, Elshan Rustamov, Natavan Hajiyeva, played historical characters in the film.
The screenplay was met with great interest by the audience.
At the end, the film's creative team was invited to the stage.
The film's director Zaur Gasimli expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the support provided to the filming.
It should be noted that the first part of the four-part film, "Taghiyev: Oil", which is of great importance in the promotion of Azerbaijani history and our national values, was presented in 2024, the 100th anniversary of the death of the great philanthropist. The first two parts of the film became a significant cultural event and were released in cinemas across the country, attracting a wide audience.
The Azerbaijani Film Selection Committee for the 98th Academy Awards ("Oscar"), operating under the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan, officially nominated the film "Taghiyev: Oil" as a candidate for the 98th Academy Awards in the "Best International Feature Film" category. In addition, the first part of the feature film participated in the world-famous “Dehancer Colourist Awards 2024” festival and won the nomination for a full-length film with high-quality color correction.
The shooting of the screenplay went down in the history of Azerbaijani cinematography due to its scale. About 2,500 creative people participated in the mass scenes in the film, which was shot in 76 different locations. More than 300 decorations were prepared for the historical scenes of the film. In order to fully reflect the historical period in which Tagiyev lived, a special clothing workshop was created, and a large number of clothes, accessories, jewelry samples and special props were made.
