Elshan Asgarov was born in Jalilabad.

He studied at the Directing Department of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art.

He worked on Azerbaijani television, "ESA" and the Yugh Theater. He directed several plays. He starred in about 30 stage plays. He won various recitation competitions.
